Meet Jaynesh Ramsaran, the man who ensures our safety at work every day.

As a Health and Safety Officer, he plays a crucial role in the automotive industry, where safety risks are always prevalent. With his expert knowledge and experience, Jaynesh conducts thorough risk assessments and identifies potential hazards in our workshops, ensuring that we can work without fear of injury and regularly conducts site inspections, audit, and evaluate our safety programs, taking immediate action to control any safety hazards before they can harm us. Jaynesh also plays a key role in promoting a healthy and safe workplace, providing guidance and training to all personnel. With his dedication and expertise, we can trust that we are in safe hands at work.

As a health and safety officer at Axess, it’s my responsibility to mitigate potential hazards that employees may face. These hazards include manual handling, such as repetitive motions and working in cramped positions, as well as being hit by or trapped between objects, like parts or tools. Slips, trips, and falls are also common, especially on oily floors or while working with slippery parts. Additionally, our operatives may be exposed to hazardous substances such as petrol, solvents, degreasers, and paints, which can have serious health consequences if not handled properly. says Jaynesh.

Ensuring employee well-being is a top priority for Axess, and technology has revolutionized the means to enhance the working environment. The use of technology has led to better working conditions and improved workplace safety which complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Act of 1970. Throughout Axess we utilize instruments like the Anemometer and Noise Meter to ease into a healthful working space.

Let me take you on a journey of how I conduct safety inspections. It all begins with a well-thought-out inspection strategy that outlines the frequency and timing of these inspections. Once that is settled, I customize the inspection checklist that fits the unique needs of the workplace. During the inspection, I closely observe work processes and equipment for potential safety hazards like worn-out equipment, electrical hazards, and poor work practices. After collecting data from the inspection, I review analyse, and action on corrective measures. The goal is to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of our workers, not just comply with safety regulations shares Jaynesh

When it comes to workplace safety, it is not only Jaynesh’s responsibility but also every employee’s role to take ownership and promote a safe work area. Training and education is an ongoing process to build the culture of continuous improvement and ensuring awareness and  knowledge of crisis procedures. Here are the 5 steps any employee can promote:

  1. Make your workplace hazard free
  2. Remove all jewellery in workshop to avoid cuts and amputations
  3. Follow all Standard of Operations (SOPs) while operating tools and machinery
  4. Stay alert
  5. Follow correct PPE and safety protocol

In conclusion, workplace safety should always be a top priority for employers and employees. By creating a culture of safety, where everyone is engaged and actively involved, we can ensure that everyone goes home at the end of the day safe and healthy. This requires ongoing education, communication, and a commitment to continuous improvement. By following best practices and implementing effective safety measures, we can help to reduce the number of accidents and injuries in the workplace, and create a safer, healthier, and more productive environment for everyone.
